Post-editing of German–English AI translation of an academic monograph

Bourchier is post-editing a series of four translations already translated by the client using AI. For this project we commissioned a post-editor from our pool of freelance consultants who had editorial experience, subject-matter expertise and who was fluent in German and English. The author and client reviewed and approved a sample chapter, after which the post-editing continued, always in close consultation with the author. Bourchier will check the complete text before it is shared with the author and again after the post-editor has incorporated the author’s feedback.
This case study shows our findings to date on the quality and time and cost benefits of post-editing.
