The commission

To create the index

Comment

As with all index commissions, our first task was to ascertain the client’s particular requirements in terms of style, number of entries (or number of pages available) and exactly what is to be indexed – in this case the authors asked us to follow the  Monumenta Nipponica Style Sheet and to index illustrations, figures and footnotes as well as names, places and concepts. Thanks to the indexer’s experience and skill the process went smoothly – with the result that the authors signed off without further changes.

Testimonial

‘We reviewed the index and were very happy with the result, and particularly impressed by [the indexer’s] keen eye for the key terms and concepts in the book. We won’t be needing any changes. Thank you once again for the great work.’
