In overseeing the production of this title we worked closely with the British Academy publications team to explore a range of book formats before hitting on the final design shown here – with narrow text width and wide margins to allow maximum flexibility for showcasing the integrated colour images. What better way to illustrate the ‘materiality’ of the book, both past and present?
Below: The sample on the left follows standard layout, with the image not extending beyond the text margin. The second sample allows the image to make full use of the white space.
