AI & Post-Editing

Home What we do AI & Post-Editing

Bourchier has launched a new service: post-editing.

Why? Because our clients – publishers of scholarly and literary texts – generally feel that the degree of sophistication of AI translation can be unsatisfactory. Indeed initial trials have led to some embarrassing ‘gaffes’ due to overreliance on technology and neglect of human oversight.

Post-editing is designed to overcome such concerns. A ‘post-editor’ – a translator-editor fluent in at least two languages, with in-depth editorial experience and subject-matter expertise – reviews and amends the AI translation as necessary, making detailed reference to the source text. They then share the post-edited text with the author and incorporate any feedback. This workflow produces accurate, culturally sensitive translations to the highest scholarly and literary standards.

For time and cost benefits, please refer to the case studies below. These represent work-in-progress on five pilot commissions that Bourchier is currently undertaking.
